I know there many frameworks (Gin, Revel, Buffalo,…) that come with some examples but it still feels hard to find a good base for the next little project. Even more so when you just use straight net/http. Searching has let me astray more than it helped to find something.

What I was hoping to find

  • user management (with some basic UI)

  • passwordless auth (email and Google)

  • db with migrations

  • some kind of storage layer (not a super fan of ORMs but maybe)

Remember those old Rails screencasts? It doesn’t have to be that simple – but the results were always quite good starting point.

I am still on the fence whether I want a SPA with API or just the old school route. For the SPA route I found:
